Clothes Show Live Trip 2013 !

Level 3 Events Management students went to the Clothes Show Live on a trip to take a behind the scenes look at a popular national event.

For all fashion fanatics the Clothes Show Live is the place to be, boasting itself as the UK’s largest fashion and beauty show with thousands passing through the doors of the 5 day event. Run between the sixth and tenth of December, it would have been crazy for us to pass off an opportunity like this with tickets starting at just £27, it is an event that is made easily affordable and accessible to all of us.

From 9am on the Monday morning, Birmingham NEC was crammed full of excited girls queuing for their turn into the events main highlight – its very own fashion show held within Suzuki fashion theatre. This year’s theme was ‘Night in a department store’ and saw many of the UK’s finest and most slender models waltz in an elegant manner down the fast paced catwalk revealing the seasons latest high street trends. Hosted by Grace Woodward, previous judge of Britain and Ireland’s next top model, and armed alongside a team of the most talented street dancers and chart topping band JLS, crowds were filled with extraordinary amounts of energy whilst dancing along to their favourite upbeat songs and a series of DJ sets.

Leaving the fashion show and feeling motivated towards jazzing up your own wardrobe, there are over 500 stalls for you to work your way around throughout the rest of the day, whether you want to bag yourself a bargain or experiment with some new beauty brands. With goody bags being offered with £50 worth of products for just £10, it is easy to be tempted and indulge into beauty brands such as Rimmel.

TOWIE star Amy Childs and leading hair brand owner Lee Stafford were also both available for photographs, advice and product signings which was a real winner for us! There was so much choice from vintage independent brands to the biggest high street retailers.

A well organised event packed with fun and opportunities, it is unsurprising that the show has now been running for 25 years and plans to return next year, so make sure you don’t miss out on your ticket!

Hour 5 of Core Radio Cambridge

Whilst continuing our 30 hour broadcast we were visited by students from Thailand. As you can see we got them to show their support for Comic Relief.

Matt and Melissa presenting hour 5 of our 30 hour broadcast for Comic Relief. They interviewed our visitors from Phuket, Thailand.

Nerd Rage: Harlem shake's on the radio.

Chris. He's a bad representation of the Games Dev class.
A collective sigh was heard as Core Radio made the ill-advised decision to play the harlem shake on the radio, at about 1:50PM on Thursday afternoon. Here are some pictures of people doing what they do.

Swag.
Claude, left, making a fool of himself.
The thousand yard stare of horror.

And now for some actual games development.

Art creation seems to be going well and people seem to still be in high spirits about their games.

We want your money!

So far the Radio and Games students have raised over £700 just from sponsorship and sales of red noses

We are collecting donations outside the studio if you would like help us.

Charlotte and Bex start the first of their many hours of broadcasting

30 Hours of Night

I can't wait to see how cool he looks after 30 hours.
In the name of Comic relief, the level 3 games design students at CRC are doing a 30 hours long games design marathon. Most students participating have found sponsors to donate money to the cause. We are doing this alongside the level 3 radio students, who are doing a 30 hours long radio broadcast. We started at 10 AM on Thursday and are planning to finish at 4 PM on Friday.

So the first hours of the the 30 hour games design marathon have been and gone. People have come in wearing their worst onesies and best morph suits (they're still terrible) and spirits appear to be high. Many people are exited to get work done, possibly for the first time ever, and the design process has begun. People have brought snacks to snack on, drinks to drink and general high-fat-content foods to keep them energised throughout the night and day.

Claude and Drew - Looking silly.

2 Hours in

Slowly but surely getting there!

Games students are getting involved!

Everyone's joining in with the Comic Relief fun!
